Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier with a call-name Frenchman has been at war since 2014, first as a protester on Maidan, then as a documentarian, then as a soldier. He enlisted after the full-scale invasion and was stationed in Bakhmut, the most contested and embattled city in the Donetsk region.
This photograph was taken by the award-winning Ukrainian photographer Sasha Maslov in September 2022.
