Lightweight technical crewneck made using Polartec® Microfleece for an extremely versatile mid-layer that provides a surprising amount of insulation for its weight. Features include a zippered chest pocket for quick access to small items, stretch nylon abrasion panels in high-wear areas, and an exposed neck suited to slightly milder temperatures, worn alone or as a mid-layer.

1

Reinforced where fleece rips first

Stretch-nylon panels sit where packs and rock wear holes in plain fleece.

Across the shoulders and upper back, on the elbows, down the sides and around the chest pocket. Kneel and brace on rock, and the fleece stays intact.

2

Warmth with no bulk

Polartec Micro 100 is warm for its weight and layers under anything.

The lightest fleece in Polartec's classic range, 159 gsm. It breathes and dries fast, so you're dry by the time you stop.

3

Phone and keys, one zip away

A zip chest pocket, so you're not digging through your pack for them.

The slider stops the zip creeping open, and a zipper garage tucks the pull away. Inside, it's clean-finished with rounded corners.

4

Go off-trail without shredding the sleeves

Stretch-nylon panels on the elbows take the scrapes where plain fleece tears.

Brush, rock, kneeling and bracing: the nylon takes it. It stretches, so it still moves like a fleece.

Where we've taken it

We put it through some sh*t.

Hiking the Swiss Alps, a full day of combat-medic training, five days off-trail in the Yukon. Each one maps to a day you'll actually have.

The material we use

Micro 100

  • Warm for its weight
  • Breathable
  • Dries fast
  • Layers under anything
The original fleece

Polartec created synthetic fleece in 1981 and supplied the fleece behind Patagonia's first Synchilla and The North Face's Denali. Micro 100 is the lightest in its classic range: 159 gsm, warm for its weight, breathable, quick to dry.

Why Micro 100

Warm for its weight. Almost no bulk.

So you don't overheat on the move, and it layers under anything.

Why not just a regular crewneck?

A regular crewneck wears through where you use it most.

A pack and the ground wear through fleece first: your shoulders under the straps, your elbows on rock. That's where this one has stretch nylon.
