Colonel Oleksandr Pyskun on the Ukrainian positions in the South of Ukraine - Summer 2022
Colonel Pyskun was severely injured near Lysychansk, trying to save the life of his commanding officer under fire, and was taken prisoner by pro-Russian separatists in the region. He received Ukraine's Order of Courage in 2014 upon his release.
This photo of Colonel Oleksandr Pyskun, Adviser to the Head of Military Administration, was taken by award-winning Ukrainian photographer Sasha Maslov in the Ukrainian positions in the South of Ukraine in Summer 2022.
It was hard to choose, all of the photos speak strongly. But his smile is radiant, giving me hope and promise of a better future for Ukraine. They will endure. They will prevail.
