One Fleece For Every Order: 259 Fleeces Donated
When we were planning the Basics Collection launch, we knew we wanted to do something meaningful with it. The concept was straightforward: for every order placed during the launch, we'd donate one of our Made in Ukraine fleeces to children affected by the war through our partnership with Gen.Ukrainian and AZOV Care Social Fund.
No complicated formulas, just one order equals one donated fleece. Simple as that.
Why This Mattered to Us
From day one, we've been committed to making sure everything we do supports Ukrainian people and businesses. This felt like a natural extension of that mission.
Our fleeces use the same Polartec® Thermal Pro® technology that keeps Ukrainian defenders warm in brutal conditions. When we thought about donating these to kids who've been through hell, it made sense. If it's good enough for soldiers, it's definitely good enough to provide real comfort to children who need it.
Meeting Gen.Ukrainian
Gen.Ukrainian isn't your typical NGO. They're tackling something most organizations weren't prepared for: the psychological trauma affecting an entire generation of Ukrainian children. We're talking about 100,000 kids who have lost their parents, 4 million who need psychological help, and 80% who are at risk of developing PTSD.
These aren't just statistics. They represent individual kids dealing with losses and experiences no child should have to face.
What impressed us about Gen.Ukrainian is how they approached this challenge. Instead of just acknowledging the problem, they got to work creating actual solutions. They develop psychological rehabilitation programs, run research, and push for changes in how Ukraine's education and healthcare systems support traumatized children.
Their mission is pretty clear: make sure the war doesn't steal childhood from these kids or become baggage they carry forever.

How They Actually Help
Gen.Ukrainian runs these psychological intensives called Gen.Camp for children who've lost parents in the war and for children who's parents are missing. They're not just feel-good camps - they use serious therapeutic approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy and catathymic-imaginative psychotherapy.
They also created programs like "Protected by Love" that help kids process trauma in ways that actually work. This isn't amateur hour - they're doing real scientific work and publishing research that helps other organizations understand how to support war-affected children.
The organization started in 2022 as a direct response to what was happening. They saw the need and built something to address it, which is exactly the kind of approach we respect.
The Manufacturing Angle
There's something fitting about donating fleeces that are Made in Ukraine to Ukrainian children. Since we started Saint Javelin, our goal has been to support Ukrainian manufacturing and keep business within the country. Every fleece we donated was made by Ukrainian workers, using Ukrainian facilities.
It's not just charity - it's keeping the whole cycle of support within the community that needs it most. The same people making our products are part of the same country working to rebuild and heal.
What Actually Happened
The Basics Collection launch went well, and we followed through on our commitment. Every single order triggered a donation, no exceptions. We're not going to pat ourselves on the back too much here - we said we'd do something, and we did it.
But what struck us was how many customers reached out to say they placed orders specifically because of the donation component. It reminded us that our community gets what we're trying to do and wants to be part of it.
Where We Go From Here
This donation campaign was good, but Gen.Ukrainian's work continues way beyond what any single campaign can address. They need ongoing support for their research, their therapy programs, and their advocacy work to change how Ukraine's systems support traumatized children.
We want to keep growing Saint Javelin into something lasting - a brand that sticks around and makes a real difference. But unlike other outdoor brands, everything we make will always be produced in Ukraine, supporting Ukrainian people and businesses.
Supporting Gen.Ukrainian Directly
If you want to support what Gen.Ukrainian is doing, you can donate directly through their website at genukrainian.com.ua. They're transparent about where the money goes: 100% of donations fund rehabilitation intensives, scientific work, support for the children in their programs, and psycho-social support for their families.
The work they're doing matters. These kids represent Ukraine's future, and helping them heal from war trauma isn't just the right thing to do - it's an investment in what Ukraine becomes after this war ends.
Gen.Ukrainian is handling one of the hardest challenges any country could face, and they're doing it with real expertise and commitment. Supporting them means supporting the long-term rebuilding of Ukraine, one child at a time.
