He started an outdoor brand with a hundred stickers
In 2022 a journalist printed a sticker to raise a few hundred dollars for Ukraine. Four years later his company makes Polartec fleece in Ukrainian workshops and tests it in the Yukon.
Christian Borys never meant to start a clothing company. In February 2022 he was a journalist with a design for a sticker: a saint in green robes, holding a Javelin. He hoped it might raise a few hundred dollars for Ukraine.
Days later Russia launched its full-scale invasion. The saint went around the world.
Most meme brands burn out with the news cycle. Saint Javelin went the other way. It moved its production into Ukraine and started learning how to make things that last.

This year’s collection, Defender 2026, is the furthest that road has gone. Polartec fleece and bamboo, cut and sewn in Ukraine, by teams who keep working through blackouts and air-raid sirens.
And before it went on sale, Christian and the team took it five days and 55 km off-trail in the Yukon backcountry, with nights down to −10 °C. No trail, no reshoots. If it was going to fail, they wanted it to fail there, not on you.

The hoodie that went the distance
The piece that carried the trip was the Ninja Hoodie. It is a Polartec 200 midweight fleece with a hood that zips up and closes around your face like a balaclava, so there is no separate face cover to pack.
Stretch nylon panels sit on the forearms and lower sides, where pack straps and rock wear through fleece first. Two fleece-lined zip hand pockets and a kangaroo pocket keep your hands warm and your kit safe.
It was the first thing on in the morning and, on the coldest nights, the thing the team slept in.

How does it fit?
A relaxed fit with room for a base layer underneath. If you are between sizes and want to wear it over a thicker layer, size up. Full measurements are on the product page.
Can it replace my shell?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. It is a midweight fleece: warm on its own on cold, dry days, and the warm layer under a shell when it rains or snows hard.
Is it really Polartec?
Yes. Polartec 200, 100% polyester, from Polartec. The abrasion panels are stretch nylon (91% nylon, 9% elastane).
Where is it made?
In Ukraine, start to finish. Cut and sewn in ukraine, by teams who keep working through blackouts.
