Polartec High Loft is a tall, plush pile. On its own it would scuff and flatten, so the shoulders, upper back, forearms and lower sides are stretch nylon. Straps, brush and rock hit nylon, not fluff.
You stop, and the cold hits. Polartec High Loft’s tall, airy pile holds more warm air for its weight, so it’s the warmest top in our Defender collection.
High Loft
Polartec says the US Army’s Gen III Level III cold-weather jacket, nicknamed “the smoking jacket”, is made from High Loft. The same Polartec fleece is in this jacket.
A taller, airier pile that holds more warm air for its weight.
A full-length two-way zip gets it on and off over every layer. The stand collar keeps the heat in at your neck.
Under a shell in real cold. On its own on dry, still days.
Worn at the summit above Lauterbrunnen in the Swiss Alps. Worn in the Yukon backcountry, at rest and layered over the Ninja Hoodie at a frozen lake.

No. Polartec says the US Army’s Gen III Level III jacket is made from High Loft, the same Polartec fleece we use, but the jacket is ours: designed for the outdoors and made in Ukraine.
